This band is one the funkiest outfits to hit the Australian music scene led by Sydney trumpet player Ralph Pyl who also leads the "Sydney All Star Big Band".
Originally formed way back in the mid 90’s playing major live venues and live TV, the band had a little extended break and has now reformed and is back with some new repertoire and modern sounds.
"Back to Back" boasts a huge talent of musicians in the Australian music scene today. The line-up includes Ralph Pyl on trumpet, Mark Taylor on saxophones, Bill Risby on keyboards, Rex Goh and David Holmes on guitars, Mark Costa on bass, Gordon Rytmeister on drums and Sunil DeSilva on percussion. All of these individuals have worked, toured and recorded with the finest bands and artists both in Australia and overseas.
The bands repertoire is strongly influenced and emulates the electric style of the famous Brecker Bros, Dave Weckl and alike. A modern take on jazz fusion is what this band is all about.
Special guest vocalists with the band over the years have been the sensational Mark Williams and Nic Jeffries. No newcomers to the Australian music scene, Mark amongst many other projects is currently touring with the Aussie icon band Dragon and Nic also being an accomplished saxophonist and can be heard performing around the nation with his own band and many other notable Australian artists.
